Karachi: A routine late-night police check in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Karachi turned into a serious incident. What began as a normal security check quickly escalated into a confrontation involving the son of a senior police officer.
As tensions rose, police made an arrest. Soon after, videos of the incident spread across social media. Authorities also launched a formal inquiry to investigate the matter.
Karachi Witnesses High-Profile Police Clash
The SSP son DHA Karachi clash occurred between Thursday and Friday night during snap checking in Phase VII. During the operation, police stopped a double-cabin vehicle. Officers suspected the vehicle because it carried unauthorized police-style lights and an allegedly fake number plate.
Soon after the stop, tensions began to rise. The driver, identified as Khubaib, reportedly argued with Sub-Inspector Shahzaib Shakeel, who was leading the checkpoint operation at the Qayyumabad police post.
Viral Videos Reveal Heated Exchange
Shortly afterward, videos of the incident surfaced online and spread rapidly. In one clip recorded by police officials, the suspect appears to use abusive language and physically confront the officer. Despite repeated warnings, the situation continued to escalate.
On the other hand, another video recorded by the driver shows the officer responding firmly. He questions the driver’s claim of influence, making it clear that rank does not place anyone above the law.
Following the incident, police acted swiftly. They registered a case against Khubaib and took him into custody. The charges include obstruction of official duty, impersonation, use of a fake number plate, and misconduct.
Furthermore, authorities confirmed that the vehicle contained unauthorized features such as tinted windows and official-style lighting. These additions raised serious concerns about misuse of authority and security risks.
However, the suspect’s family presented a different version of events. Khubaib’s father, Ali Anwar, stated that the family visited the police station after the incident. According to him, the officer involved apologized, and the family fully cooperated by handing over the vehicle.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspect allegedly refused to identify himself and attempted to leverage his family’s influence. He is further accused of instructing his armed guards to intervene and push the officer, before fleeing the scene after a brief altercation.
However, the family has presented a contrasting narrative. Khubaib’s father, Ali Anwar, stated that both he and his wife visited the police station after the incident, where, according to him, the officer involved apologized. He claimed the family cooperated fully and handed over the vehicle, adding that the situation took a turn for the worse only after videos of the incident went viral.
In conclusion, the SSP son DHA Karachi clash highlights ongoing concerns about authority, accountability, and law enforcement in Pakistan. As the investigation continues, the public now awaits clear and transparent findings that ensure justice is served without bias.
