Interpol has issued a red notice for fugitive Lyari gangster Wasiullah Lakho. He is reportedly hiding abroad and remains wanted by Karachi police, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza said Interpol’s Lyon-based secretariat issued the notice. In addition, Pakistani authorities requested the action to help track and arrest the suspect.
A red notice asks law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and temporarily arrest a wanted person. This is done while extradition or legal action is processed.
According to official records, Wasiullah Lakho faces serious allegations in Karachi. These include murder, extortion, and attacks on police. He is also wanted in more than 60 criminal cases.
Overall, the case highlights ongoing concerns linked to the Lyari gang war. Authorities continue efforts to trace and arrest the fugitive through international cooperation.

Police say one major case was registered in 2014 at Kalri police station. It includes charges of attempted murder, assault on public servants, and criminal conspiracy under the Pakistan Penal Code.

Case details show that police once raided Karachi’s Daryabad area after receiving information about his presence. Officers say Lakho and his associates opened fire on the police during the operation.
Police returned fire in self-defence. One suspect, Abdul Jabbar, was injured and later arrested. Authorities recovered a pistol and ammunition from him.
During interrogation, Abdul Jabbar reportedly identified Wasiullah Lakho as one of the fleeing suspects.
Officials say Lakho escaped and has remained underground since then. A court has already declared him a proclaimed offender and issued a permanent arrest warrant. Authorities continue efforts to locate him through international channels.
Law enforcement officials say they are continuing efforts to trace Wasiullah Lakho. They are working with international agencies to track his possible locations and movements abroad. Authorities believe joint action is needed to bring him back for trial in Pakistan.
Security analysts say this case shows the ongoing problem of organized crime linked to the Lyari gang war. They also say international notices help track high-profile fugitives. Such steps improve cooperation between law enforcement agencies across countries.
